the gimmick blogs are like tumblr’s rogue gallery. yes we’ve got some heroes, yes we’ve got some villains, but more importantly if you look over here you will see some freak who devotes all their time to counting the number of “t’s” in a post
T Count: 15
Letter Count: 198
Your T Percentage: 7.58%
Average T Percentage: 6.95%
You used the letter T 1.09 times as much as average!
YOU EXIST???
Sometimes you create a guy and it turns out they already exist
I feel like if humans swallowed rocks like birds do to help grind up food we’d have so much fun with it.
Can just imagine all the girlies on tiktok going “I know this is a bit controversial but I honestly love using limestone as a gastrolith. Not only can you readily forage it but they are just so pretty when smoothed out after regurgitating them”
and then all the comments would be like “ girl 😭 😭 calcite dissolves in stomach acid!! Just use quartz if you want a pretty gastrolith like 💀”
I like this site. Y’all just shotgunning counterfactual timelines
Removing swears and slurs from the subtitles without removing it from the audio is implying that deaf/HoH people need babying, unlike their hearing friends and family sitting right next to them. Which is frustrating.
The point of subtitles is to give the same experience to everyone watching, regardless of ability—not to be a more palatable version of what’s being said.
i love john brosio paintings bc theyll be an absolute gut punch that forces you to consider your own morality like two earthlings and they will also be Big Crab
“two earthlings”, an absolutely devastating oil painting that i think about every single day
“fatigue 2”, Big Crab
I hadn’t seen the second one. You can just tell that guy is standing where his car should be. He’s too tired to worry about the crab directly, he’s just thinking about how this means he’s gotta call the insurance company and lord knows if giant crab attacks are covered. He’s looking off to the left because that’s where the bus stop is, he’s watching a bus pull up right now and thinking that while there’s a chance he could sprint for it and make it on he absolutely cannot bring himself to run right now - not from the crab, not to the bus, not for anything. Fuck the diet, though, he’s getting fast food tonight. Not like he can drive to the store now anyway.
Man has gotten the bus home (car crushed by giant crab) to find more sea creatures on his property
Is this targeted? What will this do to his insurance premiums?
all these wildly biphobic takes coming out of twitter are like, if you removed the specific references to bisexuality and swapped the icon with an american flag sunglasses guy everyone would immediately understand this is virulent misogyny. but when u add “bi” to the equation suddenly self-proclaimed feminists think women being called damaged goods & promiscuous manipulators because they have dated men is just “discourse” and a reasonable matter of opinion. makes you think
Between the barbenheimer shit and the grimace shake tiktok trend (e.g., social media users creating organic viral marketing for these products), I don’t think most people hate corporations nearly enough
This kind of thing where people promote products for free is a corporate wet dream btw. Word-of-mouth (and the memes have the same impact as traditional word-of-mouth) is more convincing to consumers than actual ads, and the corporation doesn’t have to pay for it. Everyone making Barbie memes and shit is doing Warner Bros’s job for them!!!
no hate to OP but this feels like a really weird tone to take - it’s true you’re right! but there’s nothing wrong with memetic culture, there’s nothing wrong with talking about things we enjoy. word of mouth IS king and it’s absolutely normal people would want to talk about something they’re excited about or enjoy. do you want people to.. not talk about pop culture? impossible.
side effect in particular of being on social networks designed to connect as many people together as possible. only the memes with mass reach are going to be about pop culture and things essentially everyone can relate and connect to. if you want to see memetics and word of mouth on smaller niche topics you need to move to smaller niche social circles.
not to Discourse but I’m a cis man and my partner is an afab enby and if you call us a “straight couple” I will personally come to your house tie you to a chair and make you listen to a podcast about gender identity on endless repeat
this is specifically @ the people who saw us at pride together and saw them wearing a “THEY/THEM” button and still referred to them as my “girlfriend” you’re all cancelled thanks
it’s called respecting queer people juice
y'know the really amazing thing about the notes on this post - apart from just the sheer number of people who are, like, viscerally terrified of the existence of a person who isn’t cis - is how many of them are responding to things that aren’t here. specifically, you’ll notice I said nothing about my sexuality. I didn’t say I identified as non-het, or that I considered myself part of the LGBTQIA community. on the flip side, I also didn’t give you any reason to believe I’m not bi, or that I’ve never been in a relationship with a cis man. y'all know nothing about my sexuality from this post and you don’t need to and I’m not going to tell you about it now because! this post! was not! about me!
it was about respecting my partner’s identity. and the fact that they don’t get that respect from people in the exact community that they should be able to count on getting it from.
ie, you.
they are not het or cis, and no relationship they are in will ever be a “straight relationship” because they. are not. het. or. cis.
everyone in the notes gatekeeping me because I’m “not oppressed”? I never said I was. the person you’re really attacking and invalidating by shitting on this post is them, a pansexual nonbinary person who is unerasably queer.
huh. it’s almost as if the whole “we can’t let straight men use queerness to worm their way into our community” discourse is just an excuse to hate trans people, isn’t it.
I reblog this every time I see it–
thinking abt all the ppl constantly posting abt afab nonbinary ppl who are dating cis men and saying that clearly their partner just thinks they’re a woman. and how they’re the same ppl on this post disrespecting op’s partner’s identity. almost like y’all don’t respect afab nonbinary ppl and think they’re just “basically women” (unless they physically transition in which case they’re “basically men”) but don’t want to admit that so you project that shit onto their partners.
